, an elected member from the Balaghat Parliamentary Constituency of
Madhya Pradesh, resigned from the membership of Lok Sabha.
Lok Sabha was adjourned until noon soon after the House
convened in the morning. After the tabling of reports at noon, Speaker Meira
Kumar allowed Finance Minister P. Chidambaram to introduce the Supplementary
Demands for Grants (General), which were passed by the House without any
discussion. This was also the case for the Supplementary Demands for Grants
(Railways). The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of
Atrocities) Amendment Bill, 2013 was also introduced in the House by Kumari
Selja.
The Speaker then announced that she had received
three motions of no confidence against the government which she was
“duty-bound” to introduce in the House. However, as the House was not
in order, the Speaker stated that she could not count 50 members (the
minimum required to bring a motion of no confidence against the government),
and adjourned the House for the day. The Rajya Sabha was also disrupted
throughout the day and was adjourned twice before 2 pm, when it was
adjourned for the day.
The Lok Sabha worked for a total of 20 minutes
today.
