Rajya Sabha’s proceedings were adjourned repeatedly after Members’ requests to discuss the farmers' agitations were not accepted. They had demanded that the business listed for the day be suspended. Acknowledging that the discussion needs to be held at the earliest, the Chair decided that the discussion could be covered as part of the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address tomorrow. 

Lok Sabha also saw multiple interruptions before adjourning for the day.

Question Hour resumed in both the Houses. It was suspended during the Monsoon Session due to reduced sitting hours.

Highlights on the Ministry-wise allocations this year:  

Please note that since 2020-21 was a non-standard year, we have compared the Budget Estimates for 2021-22 with the actuals for 2019-20.

• The Ministries with the 13 highest allocations account for 53% of the total budgeted expenditure in 2021-22. Of these, the Ministry of Defence has the highest allocation this year at Rs 4.78 lakh crore (14% of the total budgeted expenditure of the government). 
   
• Allocation to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution saw an annual increase of 48% in 2021-22 over 2019-20 due to a higher allocation for food subsidy. 
   
• The Ministry of Jal Shakti’s allocation of Rs.69,053 crore in 2021-22 is 184% higher than the RE of 2020-21. This increase is primarily due to a higher allocation for the Jal Jeevan Mission. This program has been allocated Rs 50,011 crore this year.
