Parliament Diary

Winter Session – Day 15 : Dec 12th, 2014

Three weeks of the ongoing Winter Session have now been
concluded. Productivity of Lok Sabha for the three weeks was at 99%, while for
Rajya Sabha it was at 72%.

10 Bills have been passed by both Houses, while 3 more Bills
have been passed by Lok Sabha. 5 Bills have been withdrawn.

Question Hour functioned in Lok Sabha for 77% of the
allotted time, while it functioned in Rajya Sabha for 32% of the allotted time.
63 questions were orally answered in Lok Sabha during the first three weeks,
while 35 questions were orally answered in Rajya Sabha.  

The Rajya Sabha Chairperson on 25th, 26th,
27th November and  1st,
2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 11th
December named , , , , , , , and
MPs
respectively for gross disorderly conduct in violation of rules and etiquette of
Rajya Sabha.

The ten Bills passed by both Houses are:

(Amendment) Bill, 2014

In the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament, four
Departmentally Related Standing Committees (DRSCs) have submitted their reports
on Bills that were referred to them.  These were:

1.      
The DRSC on External Affairs’

on Science and Technology, Environment and Forests’ 

3.      
 The DRSC
on Health and Family Welfare’s report on the 

4.      
The DRSC on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law
and Justice’s report on the .

The Rajya Sabha Select Committee
also submitted its .

 

5 major discussions have been held in Parliament so far. These were held on
the following topics:

1.      
Need to expedite the process of bringing back
black money stashed abroad (Lok Sabha)

2.      
Natural calamities in various parts of the
country with special reference to rains and floods in Jammu and Kashmir,
cyclone Hudhud in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha and drought in Maharashtra (Lok
Sabha)

3.      
Reported dilution of Mahatma Gandhi National
Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (Lok Sabha)

4.      
Situation arising due to the reported incidents
of religious conversion (Lok Sabha)

5.      
Discussion on prevailing agrarian crisis in the
country (Rajya Sabha)
