
Parliament met for the 6th sitting of the Budget Session today. was passed in Lok Sabha today. .
The Bill amends the Telecom Regulatory Authority Act to allow its
previous chairman and members to take up other jobs in the central or
state governments two years after demitting office.
A discussion on the Railway Budget and a discussion and voting on the
Demands for Excess Grants of Railways for 2011 -12 were underway in Lok
Sabha at the time of sending this diary.
Rajya Sabha also undertook a discussion on the Railway Budget and also
passed The Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2014.The
Bill, which had been in May 2014, .
The Bill seeks to transfer of 136 villages, 211 hamlets and seven
mandals of Khammam district in Telangana to the successor state of
Andhra Pradesh. ,
this transfer will “enable the successor State Government of Andhra
Pradesh to have flexibility in the identification of areas for
implementing the rehabilitation and resettlement aspect of the Polavaram
Multi-purpose National Irrigation Project, as well as to ensure
contiguity in the areas that form part of Andhra Pradesh and for
administrative convenience...”
Productivity Watch: In the first week of the Budget
Session, Lok Sabha worked for 62% of the total time they were supposed
to sit for, while Rajya Sabha worked for 66%.
Question hour was held for 50% of the scheduled time in Lok Sabha, and 35% in Rajya Sabha.
