The Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025

 

  • The Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025 was introduced in Lok Sabha on August 18, 2025.  The Bill seeks to amend the Indian Institutes of Management Act, 2017.  The Act declares Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) as institutions of national importance and regulates their functioning.

  • Establishing IIM Guwahati:  The Bill provides for establishing an IIM in Guwahati, Assam.  Until the formation of the first Board of Governors of the institute, its functions will be carried out by persons appointed by the central government.
